'Dragons Den' Pitch Planning
The genre of the film
Thriller/Social realism
Thriller/Social realism
My idea for my short film is all based around the dangers of the internet and how you do not actually know who you are talking to, even if you think you are. I wanted to create an exaggerated response of what could happen if you are not safe online.
I plan to use one continuous setting to represent the isolation that young people go through due to social media. People are constantly scrolling through other people's lives and comparing themselves, thinking that their life is not as exciting as someone else's.
I plan to use an older character in my film to highlight how it is not always younger people who get into problems on social media. I intend to break the stereotype of young people not being careful enough therefore doing this by using an older person instead of using a teenager. However, I am not sure how effective this is, as after doing some practice shots it was difficult to direct the older character to create a believeable character as they did not have any experience on social media.
I intend to use low saturated lighting, inspired by the 'Operator', a short film showing an emergency services phone operator guiding a young woman through a house fire whilst she was waiting for the fire service to arrive. The use of low lighting highlighted the dark happenings that were taking place on the other side of the phone. Presenting it to be a serious task, ultimately portraying the overall message of the short film.
I intend to make my film creative and original by crossing over two genres. Making it educational and entertaining. I will do this by making the first half of the film as a 'documentary' style, including a voice over about social media which will then tranisition into an example of how the internet can become unsafe.
